Overview
A higher-level map of what this site is for: how the Notes, Projects and Connect sections fit together, and a bit of context on who's behind it.
If the homepage is an index of links, this page is the short explanation of what you're walking into.
Notes
The place I work through ideas in public — often before they’re fully resolved. This allows a visible trail of reasoning rather than immediately polished conclusions.
The focus is on breaking down perceived problems with progressive development of reasoning and openness to criticism to ensure that these ideas don't grow in a microcosm of ignorance.
Projects
Focused around 4 fixed domains and personal projects aimed at driving their development over time. These are still in a development stage and will be added to slowly over the course of decades.
Reference to each of the projects now: Societal systems and governance, questions around academic incentives and research impact, large-scale brain mapping and connectomics, and early thinking around consciousness and its possible formalisation; is done with the intention of ongoing transparency.
Connect
I offer limited 1:1 mentoring for people who want more structured direction in how they think about academics, career decisions, or longer-term life choices. The work is practical and reasoning-focused and aims to develop more reliable ways of thinking about complex decisions.
In some cases this overlaps with more traditional academic support, but the emphasis is on understanding and judgement that allows you to independently solve ongoing problems rather than short-term performance.
